Summer Quest 2010 is coming to an end. We had a great time and are looking forward to next year's camps! ![]() Summer Quest is a program sponsored by the Castroville Public Library & the Junior Friends and designed to encourage youth to read and research. Each camp focuses on a unique topic and includes:
Camps are designed by your Junior Friends - youth volunteers in our community dedicated to helping the library. In exchange for a donation, children can gain a Summer Fun Pass that gives them access to the various events that will go on.
Pricing does not include the first Aid & Beyond Class - which is a $15.00 fee for course materials.
Gothic Book Club is FREE! Just register. Scholarships available - ask a staff member. Camps Include: First Aid and Beyond June 7-11 from 1:00pm - 3:00pm First aid isn't just for grown-ups! Learn to treat scrapes and boo boos of all types. This camp has 2 levels - one for preschool through 1st grade and a 2nd for those wanting to learn babysitting and more advanced first aid. Separate fees apply for this camp (not included in the pass) - ask a staff member. Gothic Book Club June 11 - August 6 - Fridays from 10:00 - 11:00 AM Frankenstein, Dracula and more....come join in and talk about Gothic literature before "Twilight" made it "cool". Join us and learn about taking great pictures and how to edit them. Bring your own camera - or borrow one of ours. These are the voyages of the Starship Library - its continuing mission - to teach about aviation and space exploration. Join us as we fly high into this camp of wonder and new universes. Have an interest in drawing? Want to put author's words into a work of art? From words, make paintings, drawings and more. Join us as we put pen to paper and let life take form. Ever wanted to travel back in time and take that test again? Wish you could go back and meet a famous person? Thing it could happen? Come and explore more about time travel and read about others who wanted to travel through time to explore the worlds of old.
Gods, magic powers, the end of the world....interested? Find out about mythology in a fantastic series of books. Explore Mount Olympus as we travel with Percy and friends. Come with us as we dig up the past. Learn about Castroville's history and get hands on experience as we explore dig sites and learn about archaeology. Ever wonder what that picture means? Find out the hidden meaning of symbols around us....it's a whole secret language for us to explore. Even the icons on your computer are symbols! Calling all writers! Join us each week as we write about the world around us. Poetry, short stories, journal entries -anything goes. Want to help record Castroville history?
