Junior Friends is a great club for kids and teens ages 8 to 17 to join & learn about community service and our local library.

What do Junior Friends do?

Junior Friends help staff with some of the basic library jobs that we do on a day to day basis. They also help plan summer programs, learn leadership skills, and earn community service hours through various activities at the library and in Castroville.

Who can be a Junior Friend?

A Junior Friend can be anyone in the Medina County area ages 8 through 17 who wants to give back to the community, loves reading, and enjoys helping out the library. A Junior Friend must also have a positive and helpful attitude, be respectful of others, and be willing to have fun and make new friends.

Why be a Junior Friend?

You should be a Junior Friend if you like to work hard, read, and have a lot of fun. When you are a Junior Friend you get to give to the community in a variety of ways, but once you are done working hard, then you also get to go on field trips (like to the movies if a book becomes a movie), get invited to library sleepovers, get to play our Wii & Xbox on gaming nights, and get tons of computer time on our library computers.

How do you become a Junior Friend?

Come by the Castroville Public Library, sign up for a Castroville Library card, and fill out and return the Junior Friend application form. After that, schedule a time to talk to the Junior Friend staff coordinator to learn the ins and outs of the club, and make sure you attend the meetings and set up a time to volunteer.
