It is the mission of the Castroville Public Library to provide and promote open and equal access to the resources and services of the library in order to meet the informational, educational, and cultural needs of our community. The library seeks to encourage reading and the use of current technology for life-long learning and the enhancement of the individual's quality of life. Your journey to the past, present and future begins here with us at the Castroville Public Library. The Castroville Public Library began operation in 1963. Our library was the first public library started in Medina County. It was created by the local Home Demonstration Club and has grown throughout the years. The library is a great place for you to get involved in your community. Come in and mentor the kids in our summer programs, volunteer, donate books to our “previously loved books” bookstore, or make recommendations about books for our collection. Your involvement is our success. We are in the process of going digital. We are
digitizing our oral histories of local residents and making electronic copies
of some of our unique family history documents. Our Oral History and local
family collection provides an invaluable source of local Castroville history.
The Castroville Public Library provides common library services and some that are not so common. These services include: • Books, Magazines & Newspapers How to get a library card: Getting a card is easy to do - just ask a librarian or staff member.
